In Company is dedicated to producing accessible theatre to the widest audience possible. Before any play is chosen, our prime consideration is the audience: will they be entertained, thrilled, shocked or moved by the play? From there, we select the members of In Company best suited to bringing that play to the stage.
We believe in the success of a true company: like-minded, caring, passionate people with the desire to support and nurture their fellows in every project, no matter how large or small their role (on stage or off).
We aim to champion new writing, as well as revive recent classics and little seen plays.
Our commitment to reaching a wide audience is borne out through our policy of staging special matinees for seniors and the development of a programme of educational events for young people.
In Company will consider membership applications regardless of gender, sexuality, race, religion, physical ability and mental health issues.
Submissions Policy
We offer a platform for new writing through our Off Cut Festival, however, we welcome submissions at any time.
When submitting a play, please remember the following:
· Don’t be afraid to write a crowd-pleaser.
· Write what you want to write, not what you think you should write.
· Let your imagination go, but don’t be ‘avant garde’ for its own sake.
· Politics and religion are fair game, but, please, no proselytising or prejudice.
· Think theatre. Don’t write for the stage something we could see on the TV any night.
· The audience. It’s not about you... it’s about you and us and them.
· Give your audience members the chance to make up their own minds: show them your story, don’t tell them.
Please note that all submissions must be hard copies. Emailed scripts will not be read. If you wish to have your work returned, please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope.
